If you ask me about my dream life when I was a little girl,
I’d probably tell you that it’s moving out of the city to live by the sea.
To wake up to glassy morning surf.
While my lover, still in bed, I’ll prepare our coffee.
My lover who sees my genius and my crazy,
Yet still chooses to dance silly with me.
I’d tell you it’s the aimless drives we do to chase the sunset somewhere new
So we could talk about ideas or sing sad songs to the rising moon.
The younger me would probably tell you about my obsession with love
And how I thought I could never grasp the idea of the word
They told me I was loved
But I watched love fade
I watched love hurt and break
I watched love hate
“𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥,
𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘸 𝘮𝘦.
𝘞𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳,
𝘐’𝘮 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘢 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴 𝘩𝘦𝘳.”
I’ve lived a lifetime in the love we once had.
The end was when my understanding of the word grew bigger.
